MEET THE CREATOR

A UNIVERSE OF DESIGN AND ORDER

You have accessed this information through a somewhat complex machine--some kind of a computer. Where did that machine come from?  Would you believe the electronics shop down the street exploded and the rubble melted together to form the equipment in front of you?

"Ridiculous!" you say. Of course! More likely, you purchased a computer manufactured according to the specifications of one or more designers -- someone who sat down, thought through all the circuits and determined how the parts should be arranged to provide the exciting capabilities computers now offer. Your machine operates on set principles of order and design. Follow certain instructions and you obtain expected results. Ignore the directives and you know what happens (or doesn't happen).

We live in a wonderful universe even more intricate than your computer. It also operates on identifiable principles of order and design. Just as chance did not produce a machine as complex as a computer, so chance did not produce this universe. It came about through the deliberate and careful planning of a Designer, the Creator.

The Bible says, "You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you."(Nehemiah 9:6 NIV) Whenever possible, Scripture quotations should be read in their context. The order and design of this universe includes the laws of nature, discovered by science. Upon these laws we base the programs of Wonders of Science described at this web site. These laws enable us to present some spectacular demonstrations. In one, we send a one-million volt electrical charge through our scientist's body. The energy ignites a board held in his hand and exitshis fingers as bolts of lightning. By following natural law our scientist completes the demonstration without harm. If we ignored the laws we would have tragic results.

Just as the Creator designed a set of natural laws to control the physical universe, so He designed laws that control the spiritual realm. Ignore either set and you suffer the consequences.

A REJECTED CREATOR

Unfortunately, as a race and as individuals we have ignored and turned our backs on God, the Creator. The Bible teaches that, whether by deed, word, thought or attitude, each of us has offended God. We call this sin,and neither you nor I are exempt.

"There is no one righteous, not even one."(Romans 3:10 NIV; also see Psalm 14:1-3) "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."( Romans 3:23 NIV; also see Romans 3:9)

Through our thoughts, deeds or attitudes, we have offended the eternal, holy God. And just as a failure of our scientist to follow natural law will result in certain consequences, so spiritual law dictates a consequencef or our sin and we each must pay that penalty.

"Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism." (Colossians 3:25 NIV)
"For the wages of sin is death." (Romans 6:23 NIV)

The consequences of sin first of all bring spiritual death (alienation from our Creator), and ultimately eternal death (eternal separation from the Creator). The Bible describes this as a penalty:

"With everlasting destruction and shut out from the presenceof the Lord and from the majesty of his power." (2 Thessalonians 1:9 NIV)

This is a universal condition and none of us can escape the punishment for our sins (see Hebrews 2:3; Romans 5:12). It's a debt that must be paid.

MARK IT "PAID IN FULL"

While each of us must pay the penalty of our sin, God has some good news for you. He loved you so much He chose to take your penalty Himself. Jesus Christ came to this earth and, as the eternal God (John 10:30), died in your place.

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: Whilewe were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8 NIV) "For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance:that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures."(1 Corinthians 15:3 NIV)

Can you think of any greater demonstration of the Creator's concern for you than to die in your place and pay your debt Himself?

"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13 NIV)

Greater still was our Creator's love because He died for us before we were His friends. While were still sinners, enemies of God, Christ died for us.

In the Bible we read that through the blood of Jesus, His death on the cross, He will wash away our sins, remove our offense against Him and cancel the debt.

"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life." (John 5:24 NIV) "The blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin."(1 John 1:7 NIV; also see Isaiah 53:6 and John 3:14-17)

God neither offers nor accepts any other means of caring for the penalty.

Jesus said, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6 NIV). "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."(Acts 4:12 NIV)

Jesus Christ is the only way that you can return to the Creator, the only way to have your penalty paid. This is the Creator's plan and the only way to meet Him.

IT'S UP TO YOU

However, mere knowledge of this information changes nothing. Our scientist can know all the available facts and prevailing theories about electricity, but if he ignores natural law, the demonstration will kill him.

In faith, you must believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead, then receive the gift of His sacrifice for your sin (Romans 10:9). This means that you trust God, and God only, to both pay the debt you owe and accept the payment, recognizing that nothing you could do can cancel sin's consequences. God grants forgiveness and eternal life only as a gracious gift, not as a reward for good behavior.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-- not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9 NIV) "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved."(Acts 16:31 NIV) "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12 NIV)

The Bible describes this process as the new birth and makes it available to you today.

"I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." (John  3:3 NIV; also see John 1:12-13) "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."(Romans 10:13 NIV) "I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation." 2 Corinthians 6:2

Many people feel that it doesn't matter what you believe, as long as you're sincere. That can't be farther from the truth. Imagine if you were to climb up on our million-volt generator and say, "It doesn't matter what natural law says, I believe I can do this my own way. Crank up that million volts!" Ignore the laws of science and no matter how sincere you are, when the power comes on you'd be sincerely dead. Misplaced sincerity produces the same fatal result as ignorance. This concept holds true in the spiritual realm also. You can sincerely believe there are many waysto God, but you'd be dead wrong. Remember, Jesus said, "I am the way..."(John 14:6 NIV, also see John 10:9). No church, ritual, act of charity or good deed can replace Jesus.

HOW WILL YOU RESPOND

Is there any reason why you would not want to have the debt for your sins removed? While the cost was high for God (the death of Jesus Christ), He made the process simple for you... as easy as ABC.

Acknowledge that you have sinned against God (Romans 3:23 ) and as such must face the consequences of your sin... the penalty of spiritual and eternal death (Romans 6:23 ). By doing this, you recognize that you have offended the Creator in word, deed and attitude.

Believe that Jesus died for your sins (Romans 5:8 ) and that He alone can satisfy the payment of your penalty (John 14:6 ). This step means that you trust in Jesus' blood as the only way to appease God's law.

Claim your payment by accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord (John 1:12 ). By a decision of your own will, receive God's free gift of sin canceled and eternal life secured.

God knows the thoughts and intents of your heart. He desires honesty in your decision to trust Him, not precise formulas. However, millions of people have solidified their decision by using a prayer similar to this. Why not talk with God now and make this your prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father. I recognize that I'm a sinner and have offended You in word, deed and attitude. I know that I can do nothing of myself to change that. I believe that Jesus Christ died to pay the penalty for me and right now I accept the free gift of Christ's payment for my sins. I ask that You cleanse me and forgive me through Jesus' blood, and I receive Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord. Make me Your child today, I ask in Jesus' name. Amen.

Whatever words you used, if you honestly recognized that you're a sinner and asked God to forgive your sins through Jesus' blood, several things happened: God gave you the gift of sins canceled and eternal life guaranteed, and He made you a child of God and part of His family.
